LOCATION: Whittlesey, Cambridgeshire
JOB TITLE: Transport Planner
SALARY & BENEFITS: GBP26,000 ( negotiable reflecting the skills and experience of the successful candidate)

WORKING HOURS: Full time, Permanent (7am - 7pm, 4 on 4 off )

Chiltern Distribution Ltd are currently looking for Transport Planners to join our busy distribution team working on a 4 on 4 off shift pattern.

THE ROLE: You will primarily be involved with the routing of delivery vehicles, managing drivers and vehicles and helping to organise all aspects of our operation, in what can be a very high-pressured environment.

Efficient use of vehicles and drivers, a cost-saving mentality and continuous improvement of customer service are all key parts of the role. In addition, excellent communication skills are essential when dealing with all departments.

The successful candidate will have:

Previous experience in a Transport Planner/ similar role within the transport and logistics sector
Sound UK geographical knowledge
MUST be able to work 7am-7pm, on a 4 days on, 4 days off rota
A high level of organisation skills
The ability to work on their own initiative within a time critical setting
Knowledge of Microsoft Office
A methodical, logical approach with good problem-solving abilities
Attention to detail and accuracy are crucial
The determination and willingness to resolve all issues to meet customer and business requirements.

Desirable skills/experience:
Knowledge of tachograph and WTD legislation
Knowledge of groupage operations
Previous experience using transport planning systems desirable
