Supplies Assistant / Stock Controller
Nuffield Health Haywards Heath Hospital (Flexible Hours)


We are looking for a supplies assistant / stock controller to support the department manager; you will need strong communication skills, a professional telephone manner and effective listening skills. You will need to be flexible and adaptable to respond to changing business needs and pressures.

Requirements for the Role
Educational - Required: A good standard of general education with proven literacy and numeracy.

Previous Knowledge, Skills and / or Experience - Desirable: Approximately 2 years relevant experience in a supplies function. Required: Good IT Skills

Key Duties

  • To support the purchase of goods and / or services to meet hospital requirements, in line with Nuffield Hospitals policies and procedures.
  • To co-ordinate work activities within the supplies department.
  • To receive, check, label, store and deliver supplies / products within the hospital, following the required procedures.
  • To control and issue stock using the appropriate procedures and systems.
  • To support the department manager during stocktaking.
  • To handle all enquires efficiently and effectively, escalating where necessary.
  • To ensure all data/information is entered, modified, maintained and reported accurately and efficiently using the appropriate electronic or manual processes, systems and formats.
  • To prepare standard and adhoc reports as required by the department.
  • To deputise for line manager in the daily running of the department during periods of absence.
  • To implement business policy within the department / hospital as required.
  • To participate in the development of policies and procedures, ensuring all documentation relating to area of responsibility is accurate and up-to-date.
