Chef – Award-Winning Family Business
St Austell, Cornwall

Are you looking to build on your kitchen or hospitality experience? Or perhaps you’re fresh out of catering college and eager to kick-start an exciting career?

If you’re passionate about fresh, locally-sourced food and want to join one of the South West’s best-known breweries, this is a great opportunity to take on your next challenge as one of our Chefs.

Who will I be working for?

We are St Austell Brewery, a family-owned, independent business that is passionate about great food and drink and delivering the very best to our customers. We produce award-winning beers and have pubs and hotels across the South West, from Bath and Bristol, to the Isles of Scilly.

We’re currently looking for a number of Chefs to join us in the St Austell area, working on a full time, part time, temporary or permanent basis or on a summer contract.

Are there any benefits?

- Salary of £8 - £12 per hour DOE
- 30% off food and drink at our managed houses and 50% off accommodation from your first day
- Pension scheme
- Excellent training (many of our managers started off in entry level roles)
- Employee reward programme – if you provide a fantastic service, we’ll make sure it’s recognised
- Join a business that supports local charities, good causes and individuals in need
- Cycle to work scheme

This is a brilliant opportunity to become an important member of a tight-knit, hard-working team who are passionate about delivering amazing dishes.

We believe our people are the heart and soul of our business. As such, we offer excellent development opportunities to enable you to learn, grow and thrive as part of the St Austell family.

What will I be doing?

As a Chef, you’ll deliver high-quality dishes for customers at one of our sites in St Austell.

You’ll help to prepare classic pub food that looks great and tastes delicious, from light snacks to the best fresh fish dishes.

Initially, you’ll be mastering the basics on the griddle, cooking steak and chicken to a high standard and frying sides to accompany meals. You’ll have plenty of support to increase your abilities and take on new challenges as they arise.

What do I need?

To join us as a Chef, you’ll need:

- Some kitchen or hospitality experience OR a catering-related qualification
- Great communication skills
- The ability to work well as part of a team

It would be great if you had a Food Hygiene qualification, but this isn’t essential as training will be provided.

We’d love to hear from you if you’ve worked as a Kitchen Porter, Kitchen Assistant, Catering Assistant, Bartender, Front of House Assistant, Hospitality Assistant, Waiter or Waitress.

Other companies may call this role Chef, Commis Chef, Chef de Partie, Trainee Chef, Line Chef or Restaurant Chef.

This role is available on a full time, part time, temporary or permanent basis or on a summer contract.
