Northumberland, Tyne and Wear NHS Foundation Trust (NTW) has successfully bid for Transformation funding to develop Individual Placement Support (IPS) for people receiving support from Community Treatment Teams or Early Intervention in Psychosis Teams. You would be one of 10 Employment Specialists covering the NTW area, which covers Northumberland, North Tyneside, Newcastle, Gateshead, South Tyneside and Sunderland.
You need to have experience of working with people who have a mental health difficulty and ideally experience in delivering employment support. You would ideally have a degree, but we can be flexible about this if you can bring other qualifications or skills. As these are new roles we have organised some information sessions that potential applicants can attend to find out more:
Tuesday 21st May 2019 10.30-11.30 at Newcastle Central Library, Room: Bewick 3, Level 2
Friday 24th May 2019 14.00-15.30 at Newcastle Central Library, Room 7, Level 6
The Employment Specialist will join an IPS team working under the direction of an
Employment Supervisor, to deliver IPS as part of the holistic recovery plan for mental health service users.
You will be required to manage a caseload of up to 20-30 people at any time who have experienced mental health problems and who are unemployed. The Employment Specialist is expected to deliver the Individual Placement and Support approach – for which training will be given. Working directly with all relevant stakeholders: the service user, community mental health teams, early intervention in psychosis staff, consultant psychiatrists, partner agencies and employers - you will support the service users on your caseload to gain and retain paid employment.
The selection process involves formal interview on either the 18th or 19th June and you will require Disclosure and Barring Service enhanced clearance before commencement of duties.
