Why is our Group tax team the next step for you?
Our Group tax team based in London is responsible for all international (i.e. non US) taxes. We have VAT presence in the UK, EU, APAC and LATAM.

We are a small highly experienced, capable and tightly-knit team of pro-active tax professionals who work together and particularly in partnership with our Global E Com business to deal with all the tax issues arising in the cutting edge sector of payment processing. Our technology enables billions of payments to be made each year whether online or in person. Working with customers large and small we help them to take payments quickly, safely and reliably, allowing them to grow their businesses and making your life more convenient in the process.

We enjoy each other's company and work with each other to make sure the reputation of the team as a whole is secured around the company.

Forensic VAT technical negotiations
We frequently find ourselves in forensic VAT technical debates around the "VAT exempt/taxable" boundary given that our product set includes financial flows associated with merchant acquiring and IT and messaging services. These disputes involve a very high degree of legal and tax technical forensic analysis of contractual responsibilities and VAT law. Accordingly we are partially exempt for VAT in most jurisdictions.

When the amounts at stake are material in commercial terms and we believe our case is strong, we vigorously pursue our view using all legal mechanisms available, whilst maintaining an open dialogue with tax authorities.

How will you add value on a day-to-day basis?
Given that our core supply of merchant acquiring is VAT exempt in many jurisdictions you will be a key adviser to the business, because VAT is a commercial cost affecting our competitiveness.

You will therefore be responsible for not simply satisfying our VAT compliance obligations but also for identifying and asserting our lawful entitlement to VAT recovery in every jurisdiction.

Additionally there are a steady stream of policy proposals from governments around the world which revolve around the theme of tax collection in respect of the merchant taxes embedded in the payment flows we process. Part of the role will be to monitor proposals for such split VAT payment/data reporting regimes.

What will make you the ideal candidate?
You will be a self-starter with several years of VAT specialisation, ideally with payment processing and multi-jurisdictional experience or if not at least with Financial Services (partial exemption) VAT experience.

You will bring energy to problem solving and analysis, using your technical knowledge to be innovative and imaginative whilst demonstrating high ethical standards. You will enjoy communicating with senior stakeholders and working with multi-departmental teams.

How is Worldpay changing the world?
Worldpay merged with Vantiv Inc. in January 2018 to create a new global leader in the merchant side of payments. On 18 March 2019 it was announced that Worldpay will combine with FIS, subject to regulatory and shareholder approvals. Worldpay will effectively form a distinct Line of Business within the FIS group, bringing its IT platforms and merchant portfolio to join with the banking related IT platforms and bank relationships of FIS. It is expected that if approved the FIS transaction will only increase the pace, global reach and nature of technically demanding and commercially relevant VAT issues our business gives rise to in the fast moving world of payments
