Strode Musical Theatre Society are a long standing four-part harmony choir based in Street, Somerset that offers our choir members a fun, enjoyable vocal work-out and our audiences a pleasurable social occasion. We meet on Wednesdays at 7.30 for a two hour practice during September to May and expect to perform at least four concerts in May.

Strode Musical Theatre Society (or SMuTS) are known for giving diverse and entertaining performances:

• Excellent professional accompanist
• Established practice site
• Large varied repertoire from the Shows (Gilbert and Sullivan to Mary Poppins)
• Looking to become charity status
• Occasional social events for choir members during the year

We are looking for a new Director of Music to help develop this enthusiastic, non-audition choir.  Either a professional or enthusiastic amateur would be welcome to apply.

The pay range is negotiable.

The principle duties of the Director of Music shall be:

• to work with the Society in the preparation and presentation of high quality concerts each year
• compile appropriate programmes (with the help and approval of the committee)
• to suggest suitable soloists
• to write programme notes
• to liaise with accompanists, soloists as necessary
• to rehearse the Society
• to conduct performances
• plan and produce special musical concerts and/or workshops
• teach music to choir members and accompanist
• conduct/lead the choir
