You will be working on enhancing a new and engaged LFC audience for Reach, with the ultimate goal of establishing your place in a busy market.
Reach plc is home to the largest network of regional sports websites in the UK, with dedicated daily coverage of more than 50 out of the 92 Premier League and Football League clubs. We connect with millions of fans every single day, via written content, video and podcasting and our staff writers will get to be a part of that ever-growing community, raising the issues that supporters really care about.
We are Reach because it's what we do.
Every day our newsbrands - national and regional, in print and online - reach millions of people up and down the country. We are the UK's largest news publisher, with influential national newsbrands such as the Daily Mirror, Daily Express, Sunday People, Daily Record, OK! & New! Magazines and more than 100 distinguished regional titles.
Our brands have a long heritage of being trusted sources of news and information, with our editorial conviction and high standards of journalism providing audiences with timely information and opinion across multiple platforms.
Last year we sold 620 million newspapers, with 5 million readers of one of our brands each month. Our network of over 70 websites provide 24/7 coverage of news, sport and showbiz stories, with 8 billion page views per year.
We average 21 million mobile visitors - that's 60% of the entire mobile market. Each month we attract over 32 million unique visitors. That's more than our competitors. You will help us further increase our digital audience into 2019.
Key Responsibilities
- Generate ideas and content creation on a daily basis, as well as helping the Football Content Editor implement the publication's short, medium and long-term strategy.
- Create content designed to reach and engage with the intended audience in what is a developing base
- Work closely with colleagues to drive largest possible audience
- Use search and social analytics platforms to determine content choices and distribution
- Treat content as more than just rumours and quotes pieces - consider how we can add value to stories through analysis, reporting and opinion.
- Look beyond traditional covering of football and initiate new ways of storytelling for a growing audience
- Produce evergreen content that will bring consistent audience to the site month on month
- Be agile in writing about multiple topics and stories across the day, where audience determines
- Take a creative approach to covering transfer stories, manager quotes and injury news
- Assist with long-term planning and produce content ahead of major events
- Use analytics and data intelligence to guide your own content production
- Build publication's brand, but also personal brand among the online community, to make you a must-read and must-watch contributor
- Proactively building an engaged online community who will return to us day in, day out
- Maintaining a clear and consistent voice on social media
The Ideal Candidate
No stranger to a busy newsroom, our ideal candidate will have a flair for content writing, a passion for football and an excellent grasp of audience data.
You'll be an enthusiastic self-starter who is ready to put their name on the map when it comes to LFC, leading in conversations that the fans really care about. You'll recognise, understand, and hopefully share in, the global appeal of LFC and how best to serve that in terms of content.
Whilst a lifelong dedication to LFC isn't essential (though we can't promise you won't be converted), a love of the beautiful game is. You will need a keen interest in football data and understand how to translate it into relatable and engaging content.
