The role:

Main responsibilities for the Cook:
* Assist in monitoring hygiene standards, staff training, and day to day operations of the kitchen. Establishing and maintaining a regular cleaning and maintenance schedule for all kitchen areas and equipment.
* To support a team of staff in the preparation, cooking and service of food as well as the day to day operation of the kitchen.
* To assist in the design of menus and recipes, showing flair and creativity. Actively promoting menus, specials and promotional days and any additional catering services available.
* Develop recipes and techniques for food preparation and presentation which are consistently of a high quality and are achieved within the agreed food budget. As well as demonstrating innovation.
* To assist in maximising the full potential of the catering operation achieving financial targets whilst providing good quality food for our customers.
* Consult with the Caf??/Catering Manager about food production aspects of special events being planned.
* Consult with the Caf??/Catering Manager to ensure that food production consistently exceeds the expectation of the Client.
* To ensure the safe and correct use of equipment and comply with the reporting procedure for its repair and maintenance.
* Recording and reporting of all incidents/adverse events following Verse's policies and procedures.
* Be responsible for the security of stock and equipment during production and when the kitchen is not in operation. To ensure the key management policy is in place at all times.
* To support the ordering of all food and other commodities required from designated suppliers.
* To assist with stock control including detailed weekly and monthly stock checks, ensuring deliveries are put away, stock rotated and incoming goods checked for quality, quantity, dated and recorded.
* To liaise and assist the Caf??/Catering Manager in the recruitment and personal development of all catering staff.
* To mentor apprentices.
* The post holder will be expected to undertake work outside of core hours which may include evenings and weekends.
* Develop and maintain team work and morale.
* Ensure all other training requirements are covered /referred to the Caf??/Catering Manager.
* Ensure all staff comply with implemented Safe Systems of Work and HACCP.
* To attend meetings and training courses as required.
