This is a standalone role based in our Newcastle office overseeing all reporting for the Brazil office. The position would suit a qualified accountant who is capable of delivering comprehensive accounting services and analytical support.

This will include gaining a good understanding of the Brazil office structure, processes, differences between management and statutory reporting (carried out by local accountants), funding and tax implications. The role will require liaison with local staff and fee earners on a regular basis plus providing assistance to London based teams - Revenue Team, Partnership Office, Partnership Tax and Affairs team.

Responsibilities include (but not limited to):

Liaise with and respond timeously to accounting queries from London office finance teams
Prepare high level commentary for monthly budget variances in the Brazil office
Reconcile the local Brazil Balance Sheet, including (but not limited to) depreciation, salaries, prepayments and taxes on a monthly basis
Calculate and post taxes relating to local billing, reconcile withholding tax on local billing and calculate bad debt provisions for month end
Calculate partner, fee earner and consultancy payments
Cashflow and tax planning
Post accruals / fee notes relating to charges to the international offices on a monthly basis
Provide quarterly and monthly profit and loss variance analysis for submission to the Head of Brazil Office
Submit detailed salary analysis of the Brazil Office to London
Prepare SAR returns to London
Work with the Head of Office in producing Budgets on an annual basis
Reconcile the inter-company position between Brazil and other offices/member firms
Work with the London office in ways of streamlining the inter-company process alongside the London Financial Management team and Global Treasury
Assist with project work and ad-hoc reporting exercises as directed by the finance manager

Skills and Experience Required

Relevant work experience within a similar role
Experience of working within a large professional services organisation is desirable
Qualified accountant
Self-motivated and self-disciplined in meeting key deadlines
Strong numerical, analytical and reporting skills
Good communication skills
MS Excel
SAP experience including use of BPC
High levels of computer literacy and competence
Good problem solver and methodical
Proven ability to multi-task

Ability to liaise with staff of all levels within the organisation
Adaptable and able to complete tasks without close supervision
Must be flexible to meet the demands of the business during busier periods
Positive, committed and prepared to use initiative
