We are currently working with an Edinburgh based client to recruit 8 gardeners to be based around Edinburgh starting ASAP.
Areas;
Murrayburn
Inch Depot
Inverleith Depot
Pay rate 9.07 per hour.
40 hours per week, 07:30 - 16:15 Monday - Thursday and 07:30 - 15:15 on a Friday.

A drivers licence is desired however not essential.
1 year experience minimum required.

Purpose of Job

Carries out horticultural, landscaping and ground maintenance duties to improve Edinburgh's parks, gardens, greenspaces and cemeteries.

MAJOR TASKS/JOB ACTIVITIES

- A member of a gardening team undertaking horticultural, landscaping and grounds maintenance tasks.
- Contributes expertise to the development of initiatives, plans and policies within own area of expertise and knowledge.
- Supports the development of team-working within gardening squad.
- Identifies and initiates opportunities for operational and horticultural improvement within the duties of the position.
- Supervision and Management of People
- Post holders have no supervision responsibility. They are expected to provide general guidance in work familiarisation.

Qualifications, training & professional membership
NPTC Certificate of Competence in use of Pesticides PA1 + PA6a, or give a commitment to gaining these certificates within six months of appointment. - Desirable
Current, clean, full driving licence. - Desirable
Certification for use of tractor mounted spraying equipment - Desirable

Experience
A minimum of one years' experience in horticulture, ground maintenance, green-keeping, or nursery practice. - Essential
Experience of working with the public. - Essential
Experience of using a variety of ground maintenance machinery and equipment. - Essential

Knowledge, Skills and understanding
Knowledge of Health and Safety legislation and policy. - Desirable

Communication
Communication skills to advise members of the public, elected members, external organisations, trainees and others on areas related to service.- Desirable
