General Manager - Boston Tea Party
Bath, Somerset
£28,000 - £30,000 DOE Plus Excellent Benefits

Do you dream of a better world? One where businesses are a force for good and make a positive contribution to the local communities they operate in and the world in general?

If the answer is yes, then Boston Tea Party (BTP) may be just the place for you. On June 1st 2018, we were the first coffee chain in the world to ban the takeaway coffee cup – and have now saved over 100,000 cups from reaching landfill. Our purpose, Making Things Better, is more than just words to us.

We are always on the lookout for people who want to Make Things Better. As such, we recruit on shared values over experience every time. We’re now looking for a General Manager to join our team in Bath.

Our lovely teams want to be the best they can be so that they can deliver an exceptional experience to our customers each and every time.

As the General Manager, you will lead a successful and growing business that delivers an amazing customer experience, fantastic food, amazing financial results and is always safe, secure and legal. You’ll do this through hiring on shared values and then inducting, training, engaging, recognising, developing and empowering your team to ensure that BTP brand standards and high product quality are met and delivered every time.

You are a critical part of the BTP management team, working with HQ, your area and your team to always make things better; as well as integrate your café further into the community it serves.

This is a great management role for a great leader of people, who has the ambition to take real accountability for their café and progress in due course…or maybe even own their own café some day!

To join us as a General Manager, you’ll need:

- Experience as a general manager within a food and beverage retail setting, ideally with a focus on coffee
- Previous experience of developing your own staff
- Experience of marketing for a business (either with a marketing department or independently)
- A focus on ethical business practices and environmental issues from a professional standpoint

Experience of working in branded and independent businesses would also be advantageous.

With our fantastic training and development programmes and commitment to develop from within, you can have a meaningful career in the hospitality industry. You’ll never ‘just be a number’ here at BTP.

You also get to work with some of the best people in the business (yes, we are biased). Your benefits will also include:

- A free eCoffee cup (after all, #noexcuseforsingleuse)
- Paid breaks
- No split shifts
- Free food and drink
- A 25% team discount (which you can use when you’re with friends and family)
- Annual bonus (paid quarterly)
- Pension (up to 2% employer contribution)
- 5.6 weeks’ holiday (pro rata depending on hours)

We are looking to hear from those who have held the role of General Manager, Restaurant Manager, Restaurant Operations Manager, Food & Beverage Manager, GM, Hotel Manager, Bar and Restaurant Manager, or Maitre D.
