We are recruiting on behalf of a client of ours for a Planner to join an existing team at their manufacturing site in South Wales.

Reporting to either the Senior Planner or Planning Manager, will have responsibility for managing the planning and scheduling of orders for a defined area of production process. The focus of the role will be to manage the planning and scheduling process from customer order entry, material planning, scheduling throughout the process/route, to customer delivery. This role will be supported by a multi-functional team of Schedulers, administration assistants, Operations and Technical Release.

The role will interact with the various customer portals (as required) to determine customer demand, on time review, material availability and adherence to established manufacturing lead times are monitored and reported on, in order to maintain good business practice.

•Safety - Is accountable for ensuring HSE legislative requirements are personally adhered to during all activities within the area

•Quality - Is responsible for awareness of regulatory and legislative customer and internal requirements, including suitability of material for customer orders.

•Throughput - Responsible for the planning of orders to achieve OTD to the customer and to report on the daily TOC $ Lines, Pieces and OTD to the customer

•Monitor adherence to operational created plans to ensure targets are being met and advise when potential risks arise to management.

•Weekly backlog review plans - Must review and report on weekly plans including escalation as required when any issues or risks are encountered

•Work Sampling - Must ensure standardised work

•Frequent follow up - Must monitor implemented improvements to ensure effectiveness.

Accountabilities and Specific Duties

•Each Planner will be allocated a defined Product, material or group to manage and plan

•Responsible for material planning process for all materials through the defined manufacturing route to shipment to achieve daily targets on time and in full. Accountable for ensuring material availability required to meet the defined operational plan.

•Responsible for the management of daily shipments to achieve revenue recognition in accordance with daily Plant targets.

•Must continuously improve planning of material to reduce lead times and improve and optimise WIP inventory and stock levels

•Accountable for the material planning process to promote smooth and predictable flow

•Must implement and review an effective process to release Mill Travelers

•Responsible for documentation of material for release by Technical.

•Will support review of current duties and responsibilities and identify improved process responsiveness and capability, including creations of SOP's as required.

•Responsible for inventory management by identifying opportunities to maximise utilisation of material, eg. E&O and including stocktake, working in a cross functional team.

•Responsible for managing record retention in line with SOP's and regulatory requirements.

•Will be responsible for administration of all complaints relating to certification, paperwork invoicing and delivery

•Responsible for the creation of supporting documentation (e.g. purchase orders, approval of transport invoices) to ensure smooth process flow.

•Responsible for creation of reporting documents (e.g. TOC reports, revenue plans, outworking cost review etc.) in line with SOP, Company requirements.

•Take on any additional or modify duties necessary to support process improvement, SOP developments and customer requirements.

•Must be either of graduate / HND level with management diploma and/or have equivalent experience within a planning environment

•Will have working knowledge of financial regulatory framework (Sarbanes Oxley), AS9100, ISO9001

•Will demonstrate understanding of problem solving and continuous improvement activities to include FMEA, Kaisen, Lean Manufacturing principles

•Must demonstrate ability of managing internal and external customer expectations

•Must be able to demonstrate a range of leadership skills such as delegation, coaching and support while able to interpret and challenge traditional behaviors and practices

•Will drive systematic and process driven activities focusing on attention to detail and right first time

•Able to interpret high level business objectives into day to day plans and roll out and delegate to teams, able to clearly identify day to day priorities and create action plans to deliver

•Good written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively at all levels are essential

•Demonstrable computer skills in MRP systems, SAP Oracle databases and Microsoft Office

•Experience preferable in an aerospace manufacturing environment.

•Experience and exposure to a union environment would be advantageous.
