We are seeking an Electronics Engineer who will make a significant contribution to the design and development of new product hardware. You will be responsible for creating innovative new designs, maintaining existing products as well as undertaking the prototyping and testing of products. You will also provide support to marketing, production and purchasing activities to meet customer needs for function, cost and quality.
Essential functions and duties
* Produce high quality electronic designs to specification and schedule, using best practice processes and systems, while ensuring compliance with existing and upcoming regulations.
* Provide electrical / electronic technical solutions.
* Component level design, circuit schematics, technical specifications and a Bill of Material (BOM) of electronic/electrical and related mechanical systems
* Provide design solutions using CAD based design programs (Altium).
* Design for manufacture and within identified budget.
* Continuous improvement activities such as cost reduction engineering
* Use appropriate simulation tools such as PSPICE, bode plots, Mathcad/Excel and similar to verify design solutions.
* Hands-on development, building & testing of prototypes.
* Provide training and coaching when required both within and outside the team.
* Ensure all designs are fully documented in product design and technical files.
Qualifications / Experience
* Experience in a similar role in an electronics development environment, including significant design for manufacture experience.
* Engineering qualification, HND or degree level.
* Analogue and digital design
* PCB design/layout (Altium)
* Testing and development of prototype designs
* Product lifecycle with product approvals / EMC / safety compliance
* Packaging electronic designs to achieve compliance
* FPGA hardware, coding and testing experience (Altera)
* Competent working knowledge of regulatory compliance (CE) marking requirements and associated regulations.
* Competent at writing and executing board level and system level test plans
