The Early Intervention Youth Project (EIYP) is a new pan-Sussex service commissioned by the Office of the Police and Crime Commissioner for Sussex, supported through funding from the Home Office.

EIYP is a collaboration of four local organisations: AudioActive (AA), the Hangleton & Knoll Project (HKP), the Trust for Developing Communities (TDC) and YMCA DownsLink Group.

Together we are recruiting a team of 9 Youth Coaches to support children & young people in Sussex, aged 11-18 years, who have been identified as at risk of engaging in serious violence and gang behaviour. Priority will be given to those aged between 11 and 14 years.

The Youth Coaches will be geographically located and employed as follows:
•    Brighton & Hove: 1 YMCA DLG; 1 HKP; 1 TDC
•    East Sussex: 3 YMCA DLG
•    West Sussex: 2 YMCA DLG; 1 AA

Over the year, each Youth Coach will work with 30-35 children & young people; developing personalised plans that focus on the strengths of each child / young person.

An ‘enabling fund’ is available to spot purchase or commission positive activities and opportunities for the children & young people, as identified by them, that are designed to help them develop constructive interests and learn new skills; and help them to overcome some of the issues they are facing.

The Youth Coaches will receive regular group Reflective Practice Supervision.

For this role you will need to hold a current driving licence and have access to your own car.

If after reading the role profile and application pack you have questions about the role please contact Mark Cull, Head of Young People’s Services & Participation on 07834 480725
