Nineteen Recruitment are an independent recruitment agency that specialise in the placement of permanent and temporary staff within the Education, Social Care and Public Sectors.

We are delighted to be working with a local authority client, recruiting on their behalf for Psychologists to join their Edge of Care delivery structure based within their Specialist Hub.

There are three full time positions commanding a salary of GBP54k per annum. Ideally, we are looking for those who can start asap and the roles are required for 2 years. There may be the option for home working on occasions and dependant upon the needs of families.

Purpose of the Post:
To provide a quality educational psychology service to the children and young people of Middlesbrough and their families.

Duties and Responsibilities:
1. To work as a member of the Middlesbrough Psychology Service to deliver psychological services.
2. In collaboration with other members of the Psychology Service to maintain regular contact with service users to identify needs and to ensure that as far as possible the needs are responded to effectively and in a timely manner.
3. To safeguard and promote the welfare of children and young people for whom you share responsibility or come into contact with, which includes adhering to all specified procedures.
4. Assess and report on the psychological needs of children and young people.
5. Keep accurate, up to date records of all contacts and work relating to children, young people and their families in accordance with service protocols.
6. Prepare records and reports as appropriate and ensure their distribution having due regard to the confidentiality of the information they contain.
7. Provide a range of intervention strategies, both directly and indirectly, through parents, teachers and other individuals most concerned with the children identified.
8. Monitor and evaluate the outcome of intervention strategies.
9. Offer guidance and support to parents to promote children's psychological wellbeing.

10. Advise the authority about individual children with additional support needs. This will include all aspects of statutory assessment work.
11. Work in partnership with other service providers to enhance the psychological and emotional wellbeing of children and young people.
12. Participate in a range of initiatives and projects, within the service and at inter-agency level.
13. Participate in team meetings and maintain communication with team members as necessary to ensure effective and high quality service delivery.
14. Provide support and supervision to trainee educational psychologists as required.
15. Contribute to the preparation and delivery of development and training as required.
16. Carry out any additional duties which could be considered reasonable and appropriate within the overall responsibilities of the role.
17. Maintain own professional development through a variety of developmental methods.

You will need to:

1. Hold a degree in Psychology or equivalent approved by the
British Psychological Society.

2. Have qualified status as a Psychologist.

3. Have current registration with the HCPC as a practitioner
psychologist.

4. Hold a current Enhanced DBS certificate

Experience:

Extensive knowledge of the legal framework for working with children and families.

Extensive knowledge the needs of Looked after children and children on the edge of care.

Extensive knowledge of the Children & Families Act.

Thorough knowledge of current legislation/initiatives in education.

Experience of working with children and young people with a range of additional needs.

Experience in working within a consultation framework of service delivery.

Experience of preparing and delivering training interventions.

Experience of working effectively in complex, ambiguous, rapidly changing environments.
