- Full Time
Do you want to work in one of the country's most exciting newsrooms? ChronicleLive is one of the biggest regional news websites in the UK and our three newspaper brands, the Chronicle, Journal and Sunday Sun, are widely respected in the North East and beyond.
We're looking for a creative and energetic Live News Editor to work at the heart of our newsroom and drive engaging and compelling stories and videos for our audiences online and on social media.
We are Reach because it's what we do.
Every day our newsbrands - national and regional, in print and online - reach millions of people up and down the country. We are the UK's largest news publisher, with influential national newsbrands such as the Daily Mirror, Daily Express, Sunday People, Daily Record, and more than 100 distinguished regional titles.
Our brands have a long heritage of being trusted sources of news and information, with our editorial conviction and high standards of journalism providing audiences with timely information and opinion across multiple platforms.
Last year we sold 620 million newspapers, with 5 million readers of one of our brands each month. Our network of over 70 websites provides 24/7 coverage of news, sport and showbiz stories, with 8 billion page views per year.
We average 21 million mobile visitors - that's 60% of the entire mobile market. Each month we attract over 32 million unique visitors. That's more than our competitors. You will help us further increase our digital audience in 2019.
Working as part of a team of four and reporting to our Senior Editor, you'll be managing a team of news reporters who will provide words, pictures, video and audio for our website, app, social media channels and newspapers.
You'll be organising and managing the publication of engaging, legally-sound content packages - and making sure we're getting the largest possible digital audience for those stories.
You'll be commissioning a mix of content, from hard news and politics to family and trending content, and will make sure we're all over everything our local readers are talking about and sharing.
You'll need a deep understanding of social media as a way of finding stories and getting them to our readers, and you'll make constant use of data and analytics to respond to audience behaviour.
The Ideal Candidate
Ideally you'll already have worked on a daily newsdesk and have management experience, or you'll be an experienced senior reporter looking to make the next step in your career. Above all we're looking for a creative person with the right attitude.
At least two years' journalistic experience and full NCTJ-accredited senior qualifications are essential, and management experience is desirable although training can be provided.
The content desk covers shifts from 7am to 10pm on a shared rota basis, as well as working one weekend per month.
