We are Family Action, a national charity committed to building stronger families and brighter lives by delivering innovative and effective services and support that reaches out to many of the UK’s most vulnerable people. 

Family Action’s Young Carers Service in County Durham, known locally as The Bridge, provides support to young carers and their families. We work to ensure that young carers are protected from inappropriate caring and have the support they need to make healthy choices and have the best start in life. 

We are expanding our work to develop new practices that will collectively bring about positive social change for children and young people with caring responsibilities. As such, we’re looking for a Project Manager to join our team on a part time basis.

The Role

As the Project Manager, you will oversee the delivery of our Young Carers service in County Durham. 

You’ll work in partnership with local statutory and community services, including social care, health, education and local community services and promote the interests of young carers. 

Ensuring that the project is delivered in-line with SLAs and grant funding requirements, you will: 

- Recruit, manage and co-ordinate your team 
- Ensure that our service delivers positive outcomes for young carers and their families 
- Build positive relationships with stakeholders 
- Ensure that budgets and accounts are monitored and discrepancies are identified and resolved 
- Prepare reports and updates to funders, users and the management group 

About You 

To join us as the Project Manager, you’ll need: 

- Experience or competence in managing and leading others 
- Previous experience of managing resources, including finance 
- A Level 5 qualification in social work, health or education (or equivalent) 
- Exceptional relationship-building and communication skills 

Ideally, you’ll also have strong IT skills, but this isn’t essential. 

Other organisations may call this role Programme Manager, Project Delivery Manager, Care Project Manager, Health Project Manager, Education Project Manager, Social Care Project Manager, Programme Leader or Project Team Lead. 

This is a part time role, working 29.6 hours per week.
