Smarterbuys Store is a not-for-profit charity and an ethical alternative to weekly payment stores with the vision to:

“provide an ethical and responsible credit route for low income households to buy the things they need for their homes and support their financial resilience.”

We have an opening for a Customer Accounts Manager to join our team of professionals based in Stanley, County Durham. You will have:

  • excellent customer service skills
  • experience of working in a debt collection environment
  • good understanding of affordability assessments and credit checks
  • experience of working in a performance driven environment
  • good communication and negotiation skills at all levels
  • an understanding of legislation and regulatory frameworks related to Smarterbuys Store eg FCA, Consumer Credit, TCF

You will also be a motivated self-starter and adapt positively to change, having a flexible approach to the requirements of the job.

If you also possess:

  • good understanding of customer vulnerability and how to deal with this
  • strong commitment to equity and diversity
  • good attention to detail
  • maintain accurate records updating customer’s accounts with every contact
  • commercial awareness
  • familiarity with Microsoft Office particularly excel and windows, and willing to learn our in-house financial programme
