Job Description

A great opportunity has become available for a Legal Counsel to join our team in Derby.

In this role you will provide employment law support to the business.

The Rolls-Royce legal team is located in the UK, Germany, USA, Canada, APAC and Brazil. Rolls-Royce lawyers undertake a broad range of corporate and commercial legal matters across a variety of jurisdictions including M&A, joint ventures, commercial agreements, finance, technology exploitation, competition law, employment law, health, safety and environmental law, product integrity, regulatory matters and dispute resolution.

Key Accountabilities:
  • Delivering high quality, timely, cost effective and practical legal advice.
  • Developing strong working relationships with colleagues around Rolls-Royce to ensure legal advice is relevant and effective.
  • Working with other internal advisory functions and managing the engagement of external law firms.
  • Participating in the development and implementation of policy, procedure and know-how in the legal function and elsewhere in the business.
  • Conducting and arranging internal legal training to colleagues in the Legal Function and throughout the business.
  • Advising on a broad range of employment topics both contentious and non-contentious, including employment contracts and policy, TUPE (Transfer of undertakings), trade unions, information and consultation, mergers and acquisitions, employment disputes and litigation and business change.


Qualifications/Experience:
  • Qualified and practicing lawyer with extensive experience.
  • Technical legal knowledge and practical experience of employment law.
  • Strong communication skills, friendly, enthusiastic and positive.
  • Able to work at pace under pressure, flexible and innovative.
  • Well-organised and pragmatic.
  • High integrity.
