Location: Central Bristol

Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:30am - 5pm

Salary: c.GBP50,000 + bonus + benefits

What the job involves:

To design and advise on strategic communications, including leadership and business change projects, which support Unite Students managers in driving engagement of their teams and in communicating Unite Students strategy and purpose.

To give you an idea of what to expect, youll be:

  • Taking joint ownership for the management and execution of Unite Students internal communications strategy, which supports the overall business strategy.
  • Supporting the delivery of key strategic leadership communications, and gaining buy in from senior stakeholders in delivery of effective messaging.
  • Owning the delivery and content of the key monthly business-wide communications cascade, driving Unite Students strategic narrative forward in an impactful and creative way, and supporting line managers to deliver it effectively to their teams.
  • Making our corporate and financial news relevant and understandable to all colleagues, linking to the bigger picture of our purpose and strategy.
  • Developing and executing strategic communication plans, working with subject matter experts, in support of major business initiatives.
  • Working closely with the Operational Engagement Manager to ensure that all changes impacting operational teams from the broader business are communicated in a timely and effective manner, in conjunction with other communications activity.

What we look for in you:

  • An ability to operate in a fast moving, agile business, responding to business needs with a focus on our strategy and purpose in all communications.
  • Strong and proven commercial instincts and technical internal communications knowledge combined with resilience, cultural awareness and diplomacy to achieve stakeholder engagement.
  • The ability to influence, persuade and work effectively with senior stakeholders
  • Experience of, and ability to effectively translate major business events such as financial results, acquisitions and disposals, and major business change announcements into strategic messaging and advise on appropriate communications channels.
  • Understanding of UK Listing Rules, Disclosure Guidance and Transparency Rules and/or experience of working at a FTSE-listed business would be a strong advantage.
  • Fast, accurate copywriter
