We have an exciting opportunity for a full time permanent Young Persons Project Officer to work on our Young Persons' project/scheme at Our House, Rock Ferry. The position is based in a residential property which is easily accessible from most transport links with just a short walk from local bus routes.
Our House is a supported housing project offering accommodation for 10 young women aged between 16-25 and their children. You will offer them the opportunity to make progress in their lives, to build resilience & meet their aspirations. As a Young Persons Project Officer, you will play a key role in supporting residents to maintain their tenancies, identify and achieve their goals, build relationships, develop independent living skills and move on successfully following their chosen path. Our Project Officers need to be disciplined, flexible, enthusiastic, caring, calm and wise. You must have the ability to relate well to vulnerable young people from a wide variety of backgrounds, an understanding of their needs and the ability to deliver services with empathy and understanding.
Responsibilities of the Young Persons Housing Officer:
  • To conduct assessment interviews and sign-ups to ensure that access to the service is smooth.
  • To be responsible for the identification of risks presented /experienced by service users and how they will be managed and reviewed.
  • Responsible for supporting residents' personal development by ensuring they attend internal and external appointments/interviews.
  • To liaise with internal and external partners to ensure a holistic support service is provided. To liaise with housing providers to support service users to identify and secure move-on accommodation.
  • Maintain accurate records of a confidential and sensitive nature including critical data sheets, risk assessments, support plans in accordance with agreed procedures ensuring confidentiality at all times.
  • To conduct health and safety checks and raise any matters that may cause risk, harm or injury to themselves or others.
  • To minimise voids and arrears through key work. Provide support with budgeting, welfare benefits and life skills to each young person who accesses the service.
  • Responsible for the entire project when lone working, ensuring policy and procedure are adhered to.
  • Responsible for the handover process on a rota basis. Including cash handling, critical data and Health and Safety.
  • To liaise with internal and external partners to ensure a holistic support service is provided. To liaise with housing providers to support service users to identify and secure move-on accommodation.
  • Facilitate life-skills activities including a daily evening meal cooking activity.
  • Undertake any other duties in line with the objectives of the post.
  • Operation of equipment, H & S in relation to the building, fire safety, door entry system and CCTV etc.
Requirements of the Young Persons Housing Officer:
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and communication skills with the ability to relate to a wide range of people.
  • Good administration and organisational skills and ability to prioritise a busy workload.
  • Positive attitude and flexible approach
  • Ability to relate to vulnerable residents must be able to demonstrate empathy towards young people.
  • Ability to work unsupervised and use own initiative.
  • Ability to use full range of IT packages.
  • Ability to maintain accurate confidential records.
  • Ability to deal with emergency situations.
  • Ability to work with the wider supported housing team of Magenta Living.
