We are looking for HR and OD professionals who are at the top of their game and who are passionate about developing modern, business focussed solutions, and who are not afraid to challenge and try something new. The challenge we have at Essex County Council is massive, the opportunity is even bigger. This is your chance to bring new and modern ways of doing things to one of the biggest county councils in the country, where you will be encouraged to share your ideas, experience and be at the heart of creating and delivering best fit solutions.

If the idea of being part of a team who is making a real difference to public service, and to the lives of the residents of Essex, appeals to you - then this is the place for you. You may currently be working outside of local government or even in the private sector but looking to showcase your skills on a larger stage and focussed on business performance which has a real impact on people's lives.

The opportunity

As part of the newly created Performance Consulting team, you will be working across our Organisational Effectiveness and Leadership & Talent services. Your role will be to identify and develop holistic interventions that drive transformational change and positively impact organisational performance and culture, partnering with a wide range of other ODP teams.

As part of our flexible consultant pool, you'll focus on developing high performing teams using a rounded business change approach that blends organisational development, change, engagement, and learning and capability development. Addressing complex issues means that the solutions you'll need to find won't be simple, and we're looking for someone who can use their wide experience from these different fields to develop creative and effective solutions that deliver demonstrable business results. You'll need to balance all of this whilst implementing complex, organisation-wide strategic people initiatives, so your strong project management expertise will be essential. This highly collaborative role is a fantastic opportunity to turn your professional skills, knowledge and experience into better, more innovative ways of working across Essex County Council.
About you
Degree qualified (or with equivalent experience), you will be able to show us your expert learning and organisational development knowledge and a strong understanding of OD theories, philosophies and methods, L&D approaches, change management and team dynamics. We would also like to see where you have delivered engaging workshops, events and development programmes before. A confident and creative problem solver, you will be an exceptional communicator with the ability to clearly articulate messages in an easy to understand way for a range of audiences. You will also have a proven track record working with cross-functional teams to deliver projects and results to tight deadlines in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
