The Role
Reporting to the Operations Director, this role will be predominantly office based but regular site visits will be expected, we are recruiting a Quantity Surveyor, Team Leader to carry out the following tasks:-
QS Team Leader specific
* Manage, assist and advise a small team of Quantity Surveyors
* Producing budgets, monitoring against expenditure and reporting on profitability
* Ensuring procurement is in accordance with the required delivery programmes
* Reviewing incoming projects with the pre-construction team & Ops Director at handover stage
* Allocating internal resources for each project
* Agreement and uploading of budgets onto financial accounting software package
* Supporting QS team as required on site for larger meetings
* Signatory to sign off larger invoices and purchase orders
* Preparation and presentation of cost control CVRs and cash flow forecasts (weekly)
* Attending weekly management meetings
And, QS specific
* Responsible for the financial success and cost control of concurrently running projects from handover meeting to include attending team and site meetings
* Production of budgets, monitoring against expenditure and associated reporting
* Requests for quotes from suppliers and sub-contractors, assessing tenders, placing orders and achieving the best possible terms
* Completion of design value engineering exercises
* Efficient procurement of materials and sub-contractors
* Authorising sub-contractor procurement
* Liaison with site managers, clients and sub-contractors; managing variations, producing cost reports
* Production of cash flow forecasts, assessing drawings and measurements, take offs etc
* Resolving financial issues, negotiating final accounts, costing for defects
Experience, Skills and Qualifications required by the Quantity Surveyor, Team Lead:
* HNC/HND or Degree in Quantity Surveying essential
* A proven background in construction and a clear understanding of architectural drawings, specification documents and relevant terminology
* Proven experience of managing multiple projects and teams
* Buying exposure, preferably in development
* Excellent interpersonal skills, organized, practical and diplomatic
