Can you lead others to deliver a right first time, on time service to our learners?

Here at Cambridge Assessment International, the Operations division is responsible for the delivery of over 2 million qualification results a year.

We are looking for action-orientated Assistant Managers who are operationally focussed and collaborative.  Your innovative mind set, enthusiasm and natural curiosity will be key to inspiring others to deliver accurate and timely outcomes for our customers around the world.  We have roles available in our Compliance, Results and Despatches and Examiner Management functions.

Working collaboratively with the Operations Group Managers and other Assistant Group Managers, you will have a number of direct reports and responsibility for multiple teams.  This is an exciting opportunity for someone who enjoys working in a busy and challenging environment, is comfortable initiating action, providing direction and taking responsibility for your own work and that of the team.

You will be able to maintain calm in pressured environments, remaining methodical and thorough even when time is limited.  You will have a positive approach to change with the ability to encourage new ideas and approaches that help us to continuously improve everything we deliver.

What you’ll be doing

You will have day-today responsibility for multiple teams working together to deliver the right grades to candidates, first time, on time and every time.  You will have contact with Cambridge Schools, International Associates such as the British Council and Ministries around the world, dealing with exams taking place throughout the year as well as managing customers’ enquiries and other services.  You will have a direct influence on the delivery of all materials and services needed for Cambridge Assessment International examinations, taken in over 160 countries.

You will be able to build understanding and trust amongst a wide range of stakeholders both internally and externally, whilst taking into full consideration the wider picture and potential impacts.

There is a need for careful and methodical orchestration to balance competing pressures including scope, scale, accuracy, time, resources and potential risk, against operational needs and necessities.

You will develop your direct reports to realise their full potential and create opportunities for the team to review each series and drive forward change designed to improve the efficiency, quality and security of our business.

 What we’re looking for

With a diverse operational background, you will have a proven track record in a management position demonstrating successful team leadership.  You will have experience of working in a challenging and busy environment with a common sense approach able to analyse and understand complex processes, with a constant focus on improvement and innovation.

We are also looking for the following skills and experience:

  • A record of accomplishment in an operational management position demonstrating responsibility, accountability, innovation, successful team leadership and development, and customer interfacing at a senior level.
  • Experience of developing staff to help realise their ability to analyse and understand complex processes, with a focus on improvement and innovation.
  • Familiar with design and development of processes.
  • Tact and diplomacy - the ability to be firm to negotiate effective outcomes when appropriate whilst remaining sensitive to customer needs and cultural sensitivity.
  • Financially and commercially aware.
