SUMMARY
DMC is currently looking for a Shaft Technician, to join our North Yorkshire team. The Shaft Technician is responsible for providing the necessary survey control for the construction and development of all facilities, infrastructure, and excavations, both on the surface and underground.


This is an exciting opportunity to grow your surveying skillset and AutoCAD experience on a unique and exciting mining project for our Client, Sirius Minerals.


KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Measure, record and report shaft advance as required, on a per shift basis
  • Advise supervision of any remedial work which may be necessary to bring lining installations into compliance with project specifications
  • Measure, record and report physical and environmental conditions within the shaft environment. This will include, but not be limited to: wall and ambient air temperatures, including thermocouple readings projected into the frozen ground sections, measure excavation and lining convergence with extensometer system and monitor pressure cell readings to evaluate lithological loads as they bear on the lining
  • Support supervision and crews to promote safe working conditions and to work in accordance with the site rules
  • Provide updated as built and planning drawings to all required parties, as required Participate in accident / incident investigations as directed by supervision / safety department

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Knowledge and experience of AutoCAD and 3D modelling software.
  • Advanced surveying experience is a strong asset, preferably with Total Station and Scanners in an underground environment.
  • High accuracy and first-time right ethic is required
  • Experience working as part of a project planning team
  • Ability to work as an integral part of a team and problem solve in a challenging environment
  • Underground Mining experience is desirable but not essential
