It has the specific goal to harness the scientific strengths of Cambridge to solve problems encountered with the treatment, diagnosis and prevention of cancer.

We are seeking to employ a Senior Research Grants Administrator who will join the CRUK Cambridge Institute's Grants Team and play an active role in assisting Group Leaders to apply for grant funding as well as managing a broad and varied portfolio of research grants.

The Institute Grants Team performs a unique function within the University by combining the departmental grants application and management responsibilities with functions traditionally the responsibility of the Research Operations Office (ROO). The post holder will therefore need to develop a close working relationship with the Clinical School Research Office to develop knowledge and understanding of the University's policies and procedures to ensure that comprehensive and consistent support is being provided.

  • Assisting Group Leaders to cost and price complex projects and draft non-scientific content of the grant application.
  • Activate new awards on the University Financial System.
  • Assisting the Group Leaders in the financial management of their Research Grant budgets.
  • Producing invoices, interim and final financial statements both in sterling and foreign currencies.

You will have experience of working in a financial setting and be able to create and manipulate complex Excel spreadsheets.  You will be a highly motivated, committed individual with the ability to work quickly and accurately when under pressure and have experience of working to tight deadlines. You will be able to demonstrate the ability to interpret and fulfil precise requirements with meticulous attention to detail.  Excellent presentation skills and the ability to communicate, negotiate and influence effectively at all levels is essential.

Once an offer of employment has been accepted, the successful candidate will be required to undergo a basic disclosure (criminal records) check and a security check.
