The Welsh Government is seeking a Chair for the Board of Natural Resources Wales (NRW) – could you be the person we are looking for?  Are you someone who cares about Wales – its environment, economy, culture and the well-being of future generations?

If you believe you possess the passion, drive and ambition to lead an organisation responsible for sustainably managing and maintaining Wales’ natural resources, then the role of Chair of NRW might be for you.

If you are dynamic, committed and innovative and would like to help NRW to meet the challenges ahead, apply now. We’d like to hear from you if you have experience of leading a Board in developing, approving and monitoring a long-term strategy.

The role of the Chair of NRW is to ensure the Board can provide effective leadership, defining and developing strategic direction and setting challenging objectives.  This means NRW can meet its aim of the sustainable management of the natural resources of Wales.  NRW currently employs approximately 1,900 staff which is made up of a mixture of permanent and fixed term appointments, apprentices, agency staff and secondees.  NRW’s total budget for 2019-20 is around £200m – made up of grant-in-aid from the Welsh Government, commercial income and charges from regulation.

The closing date for receipt of applications is 22nd May 2019.

Application forms received after this date will not be considered.  It is expected to hold interviews during the week commencing 8 July 2019.

It is the policy of the Welsh Government to promote and integrate equality of opportunity into all aspects of its business including appointments to public bodies.  Applications are welcomed and encouraged from all groups and we ensure that no eligible candidate for public office receives less favourable treatment on the grounds of age, disability, gender, marital status, sexual orientation, gender reassignment, race, religion or belief, or pregnancy and maternity. The principles of fair and open competition will apply and appointments will be made on merit.
