We have a fantastic opportunity for a committed and passionate Deputy Manager to join our team in our Penylan House Nursing Home, Cardiff.

Penylan House is a part of Linc Care and operates in the not-for-profit sector. The fully redeveloped modern, purpose-built facility has 75 single, ensuite bedrooms with well furnished rooms, landscape gardens and car parking. The whole building exceeds CSSIW requirements with bigger bedrooms, wider corridors, spacious lounges and a high staff to resident ratio. Our recent residents and relatives’ satisfaction survey showed an incredible 100% are happy with the quality of their relative’s care and support.
What skills do I need to have?
You will need to be an experienced and enthusiastic Registered General Nurse (RGN), Clinical Lead or existing Deputy Manager who can demonstrate strong clinical knowledge and a passion for delivering the highest standards of person centered care. You will be a clinical expert in elderly nursing with a clear interest in caring for the elderly and delivering palliative care. You will have the ability to make effective decisions and sound judgment supported by theoretical knowledge and have a passion for continuous professional development.
Ideally you should possess a QCF Level 5 Diploma in Leadership for Health and Social Care or equivalent (NVQ Level 4 in Management in Care) or be willing to be supported in working towards this.
In supporting the Registered Nursing Home Manager, you will have strong leadership and management skills and able to address queries and concerns with professionalism and confidence. You will have an empathetic and coaching approach in supporting staff across the Home to develop to their full potential. Your fantastic communication skills and confidence in delivering clear instructions to your team will be vital. Listening skills are equally important as you’ll encourage and receive regular updates from the staff throughout the day.
You will be expected to lead by example at all times, ensuring that the home remains compliant with all current legislation, and be able to communicate sensitive information to Elders and their relatives with empathy and reassurance. You will need to demonstrate experience in leadership, management, and working autonomously and have a sound head for business management.
Did you know…?
The role will essentially involve working 9am-5pm, 5 days out of 7, with the expectation that the Deputy Manager will provide a management presence in the home on some weekends. The role is essentially supernumerary to our nursing team, however the successful candidate will be required to be both flexible with their hours of work and attitude to provide nursing cover on the floor as and when needed, which may sometimes be at short notice.
In addition to the basic salary, we offer 34 days’ annual leave (including bank holidays), up to 6 months full sick pay, enhanced maternity pay and a generous pension.
