Computational Physicist - Mathematical Modelling - Cambridge

A high technology company, based in Cambridge, are currently looking for a Computational Physicist to join their experienced team of engineers and help with the Mathematical Modelling, Numerical Analysis, Simulation Development and other highly complex computer/simulation programming.

Your work will be vital in the successful delivery of new technology development projects. The devices this company have been inventing are often ground-breaking, so need to have all of the correct information to make sure it is a success. So apart from using OpenFOAM and COMSOL, you will be applying your physics and mathematical modelling skills to help with solving some of the most complex problems you could imagine.

You will develop mathematical models from scratch, so a career history of successfully doing this will be ideal. We are not too focused on the sector you have worked in previously, but it will need to have been highly complex and regulated. Examples could be medical devices, life sciences, R&D design, oil & gas, F1 and other fields that require you to build simulations, mathematical models and algorithm development.

As you may expect, you would need to have a strong programming background. This could be in C++, Python, MATLAB or another similar language.

Due to the complex nature of this role, you would most likely hold a degree within an engineering, sciences, physics or software field. If you also hold a PhD, this would be advantageous but not essential. Practical work experience is essential, either in industry or academia.

Apart from the thrill of testing you mind daily in delivering on products and theories that will improve the world, you will also be rewarded with an excellent salary and benefits package. This organisation like to promote from within whenever possible, so continual career and skills training will be provided for as long as you stay with the company.

So, if you are a Computational Physicist, Mathematical Modeller, Algorithm Developer, Simulations Engineer or another similar complex role, make an application now and enjoy working on new complex fields.
