Birmingham
About the role
At the Canal & River Trust, we believe life’s better by water, and that the waterways we take care of have an important contribution to make to the health and wellbeing of local communities and economies. You will play an important part in this ongoing work, as you oversee the strategic development of various destination sites within your region and help ensure they make a tangible contribution to improving local people’s lives. You will also be responsible for promoting and marketing all the destinations in your region, and for ensuring an exceptional visitor experience at each site.
About you
This role calls for a customer service expert with either a degree-level qualification in a tourism or leisure-related subject, or a proven track record in the field. Areas you will have experience of include marketing, business plans, budget management and the development of commercial opportunities. You will also know how to work with stakeholders and partners to get things done.
We’re looking for someone with strong people management skills who enjoys communicating and collaborating with all kinds of individuals and groups. Perhaps most important of all, you will be someone who can find – and implement – innovative solutions to the many different challenges this role throws at you.
About us
We’re the charity who look after and bring to life 2,000 miles of canals and rivers. Our waterways contribute to the health and wellbeing of local communities and economies, creating attractive and connected places to live, work, volunteer and spend leisure time. These historic, natural and cultural assets form part of the strategic and local green-blue infrastructure network, linking urban and rural communities as well as habitats. Our waterways are on the doorstep of 8 million people and reach some of the most deprived communities within the UK. By caring for our waterways and promoting their use we believe we can improve the wellbeing of our nation. Come and be part of it.
To apply
We aim to represent the diverse communities we are part of and welcome applicants from across all sectors of the community.
