Coleg Cambria have an exciting opportunity for an NVQ Assessor in Food Manufacturing to join the Work Based Learning team at our Deeside Campus focusing on food manufacturing within the Meat and Poultry industry.
What is an Assessor?
Assessors use their professional expertise to support students looking to gain vocational qualifications (apprenticeships, NVQs etc). You can work as an assessor or verifier in all occupational areas where vocational qualifications exist. Assessors visit students in their place of work to see what they can do and whether their work meets national occupational standards for a particular skill. An assessor will first identify what a student knows and is able to do. From here they can then pinpoint the knowledge and skills the candidate needs to gain. Then they'll produce an individual action plan and will monitor the candidate's progress against the plan. It is a wonderful way for you to pass on your knowledge and expertise to the next generation!

Knowledge and experience required to be an assessor:
- Leadership and people development skills, with the ability to motivate learnersGood presentation and communication skillsOccupational experience in in the Meat & Poultry sector would be highly desirable, as are butchery skills.You must hold or a relevant level 3 qualificationHold an Assessors Qualification (D32/D33 | A1 Assessor | NVQ Assessor | TAQA | CAVA) or be willing to work towards thisRecent industry experience, combined with knowledge of current industry and best practice standardsAbility to plan, and deliver training and assess outcomes
Key responsibilities in this role:
- To assess students studying a full range of NVQ's at levels 1-4.To monitor and assess learners, ensuring they have access and opportunity to achieve the qualifications in their learning plans.To assess learners progress by various means of assessment and provide progress feedback and progress reportsTo provide learners, colleagues, parents and employers with timely, accurate and constructive feedback on learners' achievement, progress and areas for developmentLiaise with other training providers /sub-contractors to ensure successful completion of NVQ, Functional Skills and Technical Certificate, as appropriate.To ensure the health and safety of learners and staff and carry out Health and Safety audits
Candidates must hold a valid driving licence and have access to own transport
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable
