Fitness Instructor Job Introduction:

Fitness Instructor Role Responsibility:

• To assist in the management and development of the facilities including associated areas and activities.
• To comply with Health and Safety legislation, policies and procedures.
• To ensure all equipment and services are properly maintained.
• To carry out all duties effectively, ensuring a continuously high level of service.
• To be responsible for the gym, the equipment and all aspects related to the gym and sports. To make sure all members are correctly screened, inducted and that suitable fitness programmes are issued and regularly reviewed and updated.
• To assist with the class schedule, making sure that classes meet with customer requirements and assist in the regular class timetable review.

The Ideal Fitness Instructor:

• Strong customer service skills and experience with at least one year within the fitness industry.
• To be qualified to a minimum of REPs Level 2 Fitness Instructor.
• Service orientated attitude combined with innovative thinking.
• Knowledge and awareness of the Fitness Industry.
• Be self motivated and work under pressure to balance conflicting deadlines is essential.
• Communicate effectively with a wide range of customers and multi-service teams and service personnel to achieve results
• Experience teaching a wide range of exercise classes (e.g. Spin, circuits) is desirable
• Interest and experience organising and running sports leagues and competitions is desirable.

Fitness Instructor Package Description:

1. Take an active part in the organisation, co-ordination and operation of Woodbank and Tullos fitness activities and services.
2. Instruct exercise classes as appropriate to the skills, qualifications and experience of the post.
3. Carry out fitness appointments and exercise instruction for Shell staff, contractors and Woodbank members.
4. Accurate cashing up and security of Woodbank.
5. Fitness machines daily cleaning and maintenance schedule is adhered to and any breakdowns reported and rectified as early as possible. Ensuring equipment stored safely and tidily.
6. Ensure all Woodbank sports centre checklists completed and filed.
7. Ensure all fitness appointments are recorded in club diary or Legends booking system
8. Where qualified, provide personal training services to customers adhering to the Personal Training Policy.
9. Accept responsibility for the security of the sports centre including adherence to opening and closing procedures an ensuring all users are eligible members or their guests.
10. Assist in the induction and training of new staff as appropriate to the skills of the post holder.
11. To respond in a timely and courteous manner to all incoming telephone calls, emails or instant messages, directing customers and queries as appropriate.
12. Cover Tullos shifts when required and follow all procedures and rules.
13. Wear leisure uniform, look tidy and professional and abide by personal hygiene rules at all times.
14. To establish and maintain good relationships with individuals at all levels within the Company and the Client organisation.
15. To always look out for areas that could develop our service.
16. To pro-actively look to recommend improvements to your work processes by providing suggestions and solutions.
17. To be responsive to the need to work extended hours or cover additional shifts when requested
18. Act at all times in accordance with Shell and Sodexo on HSE and general house rules.
19. Perform first aid within your capability and training, ensuring that emergency services are called if required and all incidents reported.
20. Assist in the co-ordination of children's events and adult team building events at Woodbank or Tullos Provide information to departments, groups or individuals on health, fitness or wellbeing.
21. Attend to any reasonable requests made by the Sports programme manager or General Service Manager.
22. To attend meetings and training courses as required.
23. To perform any other reasonable management request
