THE ROLE
We are recruiting a Senior Operations Manager in the newly established Service Operations team within IT, this role will be based in Leeds.
The IT function is a key part of our business services and operates across International with key hubs in Leeds, Asia and Australia.
The Senior Operations Manager will have strong leadership skills with the ability to delegate effectively to more technical staff whilst maintaining full management control and will use their experience to align operational practices across time zones and regions.
MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
People Management including performance management, compensation negotiations, disciplinary procedures and mentoring/progession planning
Building effective working relationships within teams and coaching them to achieve a high level of performance
Collaborating with the IT Leadership Team to plan and implement an employee-oriented culture that emphasises quality, continuous improvement, key employee retention/development and high performance
Working alongside other operations and service leaders to promote global consistency and continuity
Developing new methods and organisational capabilities (including automation) for the management of systems and services
Planning and managing the implementation of processes and procedures, tools and techniques for continuous monitoring and managing the performance of any automated systems and services
Accountable for budgeting, estimating, planning and objective setting according to agreed policies
Engagement with senior level stakeholders and project teams through change management processes ensuring that the infrastructure is managed to provide agreed levels of service and data integrity
Identifiying and managing resources needed for the planning, development, delivery and decommissioning of specified information and communications systems services and products
SKILLS AND ATTRIBUTES
Previous experience in operations management with the ability to demonstrate methods, techniques and tools for planning, organising, resourcing, directing, co-ordinating and monitoring ongoing (non-project) activities
Proven project management experience from initiation through to implementation
Strong communicator able to articulate and translate complex technical solutions into business language in order to inform and
influence a business audience
Experience in managing others
Team player, able to work cross functionally
Strong commercial awareness
Knowledge of National/International standards and Corporate, Industry & Professional standards associated with IT practices
Self manages workload, scopes projects and manages priorities
Must be pro-active and solutions driven
