Assistant Manager – Catering and Housekeeping

Salary:  £23,625 - £27,400 (pro-rata) subject to pay and grading review

Hours:      25 hours per week

Location:  Sport Wales National Centre, Sophia Gardens, Cardiff


Sport Wales is the national organisation responsible for developing and promoting sport and physical activity in Wales.  We are the main adviser on sporting matters to the Welsh Government and are responsible for distributing National Lottery funds.  We aim to not only improve the level of sports participation at grassroots level but also provide our aspiring athletes with the support required to compete successfully on the world stage.

We are looking for an individual to join the National Centre team. You will report directly to the Catering and Housekeeping Manager and be responsible for the smooth running of the Housekeeping department looking after a team of four.

Housekeeping department duties to include, but not be limited to,

  • Ordering stock
  • Managing staff rotas
  • Leave and carrying out inspections on serviced bedrooms 

In addition, you will support the Catering and Housekeeping Manager in the operation of the catering department. Duties will include:

  • Overseeing the day to day operation
  • Inputting invoices 
  • Maintaining all HACCP documentation.
  • You will also be responsible for overseeing the staff training programme.

You will be expected to deputise for the Head of Department when they are on leave and liaise with other National Centre staff as and when needed.

We are looking for candidates who can demonstrate effective leadership to the team with excellent people and administration skills, a minimum of 5 GCSES and previous supervisory experience are an essential part of this role.
