Overall purpose of the job

The Helford River Sailing Trust (HRCST) has recently been awarded two grants and secured other funding to enable the development of a specialist watersports centre for ALL at Trevassack Lake on the Lizard Peninsula. The Centre Manager will be employed by the Trust to help set up the lake operation and will provide the linkage between the build and activity programme. They will work closely with the capital Project Manager during the 18 month construction period.  The Centre Manager will be responsible for managing the delivery of the outcomes within the agreed budget and timescales and will be accountable to the CEO and the Trustee responsible for the lake project.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Day to day management of the lake project
  • Implementation of activity plan
  • Recruitment of staff
  • Report to the Lake steering group
  • Overseeing the installation of lake equipment
  • Coordination and management of the Learning Centre and Lodge fitout
  • To liase with the Project Manager to ensure construction and activities are aligned

  • To commit to Continual Professional Development and undertake any training and development deemed necessary for the purposes of the role
  • Comply with the HRCST Health & Safety policy

  • Maintain a working knowledge of the policies and regulations governing the HRCST
  • Comply with the data security requirements and procedures at all times and process data in line with the Data Protection Act 1998
  • Take positive steps to identify and overcome barriers to participation, prioritising access and inclusion
  • Be prepared to occasionally carry out work outside of your contracted / normal working pattern i.e. evenings
  • Any other duties that can reasonably be expected in a post of this nature

Background & Qualifications Required

  • Demonstrable experience as an Activity Centre Manager
  • Experience working with children, and in particular children with SEND
  • Experience as an outdoor/ watersports instructor would be beneficial but not essential
  • A true passion for the charitable purpose of the trust
  • People management experience
  • Operational and Administrative oversight and coordination experience
  • Experience in managing a complex budget
  • Ability to demonstrate delivery of projects within tight deadlines and budgets
  • A positive and calm approach to the role, dealing with staff and users of the centre
  • You will be required to undertake DBS and any other background checks deemed necessary for this position
