Our client is looking for a Responsible Investment – Research Analyst to join them in Leeds City Centre, to support the Head of Responsible Investment (RI) and Corporate Voting in implementing the company strategy.
They are seeking a proactive, self-motivated team player with demonstrable planning, organisation, and data management capabilities. Effective communication skills including the ability to influence and build positive and productive working relationships with colleagues, Partner Funds, service providers and other stakeholders is essential. We expect you to continually seek to develop knowledge and skill in the RI / ESG / Stewardship areas of investment management through building familiarity with regulatory requirements, awareness of emergent best practice by other asset owners and familiarity with external measures of stewardship quality via reading, attendance at events and broader networking.
You should be able to demonstrate an understanding of Environmental, Social & Governance (ESG) issues, Proxy Voting and Responsible Investment (RI). Ideally with experience of working as an ESG / RI analyst or a corporate governance or voting specialist at a fund manager, broker or service provider.
Specific roles include;
- Assist in meeting the requests of client funds for direct support and advice on stewardship and RI.
- Assist in building knowledge and capability across the investment team and support the wider team in implementing Border to Coast’s RI Policy commitments
- Maintain effective day to day oversight of shareholder voting, liaising with the Head of RI and portfolio managers to ensure agreed voting decisions are in-line with policies.
- Monitor portfolios to ensure significant holdings and issues are identified, and voting is managed efficiently.
- Support both internal and external portfolio managers (PMs) with ESG screening (quarterly) and benchmarking and present results and provide support where required.
- Liaise with other investment colleagues and the Operations Team (as required) to produce information required for internal or external monitoring and reporting on RI activity.
- Maintain records supporting voting, engagement, monitoring and due diligence activities
- Assist in the compilation of commentary and periodic Client responsible investment reporting
