About the role

At the Canal & River Trust, we believe life’s better by water, and that the waterways we take care of have an important contribution to make to the health and wellbeing of local communities and economies. The Active Ageing, Cheshire Canals project is typical of the work we do – an externally funded programme of activities designed to engage over 55s in physical activity across Cheshire.

You’ll take care of the overall project management of this programme, from establishing project strategy to designing and implementing project plans. Key responsibilities will include managing project budgets, leading the volunteer strategy, and implementing the communications and marketing plan. Relationship management will be a key part of your role, as you build strong partnerships with local organisations and agencies, and liaise with key stakeholders both inside and outside the Trust. You will also be line managing and supporting one other member of the team.

About you

This role calls for broad project management experience in areas including health and wellbeing, physical activity and volunteering. You’ll have first-hand knowledge of financial management, community engagement and effective partnership working. Plus you’ll be a proven manager of team members and volunteers.

Other areas of experience we’re looking for include event planning, publicity and marketing, and data analysis. You’ll also need to be a strong all-round communicator, who knows how to present outcomes and achievements in a great light.
