PAYROLL & HR ASSISTANT | NORWICH | FULL TIME

We are working in partnership with a modern food manufacturer located on the rural southern outskirts of Norwich, who are looking for an experienced Payroll Assistant to join their small team in the HR Department. The salary is dependent on skills & experience with free, onsite parking.

This role offers exceptionally strong career prospects for a keen person who will enjoy taking responsibility for the entire site's payroll function for its strong weekly and monthly paid diverse workforce. With the opportunity to grow into an HR role, there will be support for the appropriate study leave for the right person and you'll be working hand-in-hand with the HR Manager.

Working hours are Monday to Friday, 8am - 5pm and is commutable from Norwich, Wymondham, Attleborough, Thetford, Diss and surrounding areas.

Your day-to-day activities will include:

  • Processing HMRC submission and notifications
  • Process monthly and weekly payroll on the payroll system to set deadlines including additions, deductions, pension auto enrolment, PAYE, reports, payslips, P45's, P46's etc.
  • Take responsibility for prompt payroll related correspondence with employees and managers, both verbally and in writing, liaising with the HR Manager as necessary and providing copies of letters for personnel files.
  • Ensure the correct calculation and processing of statutory payments such as SSP, SMP and SSP and any other statutory payments that may arise.
  • Conduct monitoring to ensure compliance with the National Minimum Wage regulations reporting to the HR Manager as necessary.
  • Liaise with all departments to ensure accuracy of payroll information, following up and resolving queries.
  • Carry out checks and controls with HR data and payroll system to ensure accuracy of payroll data.
  • Monthly reconciliation of payroll control accounts and HMRC payments, resolving problems as required.
  • To process year-end tax returns for payroll (P60's, P11d's etc).
  • Undertake general payroll administration duties.
  • HR administration.

Essential skills and experience:

  • Knowledge and understanding of statutory payroll obligations such as SSP, SMP.
  • Experience in using Sage payroll software.
  • Previous experience in end to end payroll processing.
  • Ability to build strong relationships with Managers and employees.
  • Flexible and able to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
  • High level of attention to detail.
  • Excellent Excel skills.
  • Working knowledge of Auto Enrolment Legislation.
  • The ability to speak Lithuanian will be useful but not essential.
