Learning Support Assistant
We are looking for a bright, energetic and enthusiastic person to provide support to our 12 year old son, who has high-functioning autism, in his mainstream school. The purpose of the role is to provide support with accessing the curriculum, where required, and also the social life of the school.
Our son is well-settled at school and performing well academically, and is especially gifted in music. We expect him to move to a selective secondary school in the next 12 months or so. He is a gentle, kind and friendly boy who hjas excellent relationships with his family and teachers, but he struggles socially with his peer group.
No previous experience is required as full training will be given, we will pay a bonus for the trining period after successful completion of one month in the role. Once trained, we pay GBP14 per hour, and we review hourly rate regularly to ensure it remains competitive. We will consider paying a contribution to traveling expenses if you have to travel from outside Sussex (nearest station is Pulborough, linked directly to East Croydon and London Victoria).
Hours of work are 9 to 5 in term time, save for Wednesdays which is a half day.
The role would suit anyone looking to develop a career in childcare, education, or psychology. People who have worked in this role have gone on to good jobs in education and to further study (master's/PhD), so it is a great springboard for your career development
