A well-known housing charity operating across England and Wales, who currently provides supported accommodation for young people who are homeless or at risk of homelessness. Providing accommodation to more than 18,000 young people who are experiencing homelessness each year, the largest voluntary sector provider for supported housing in England and Wales are looking to expand their team in the Birmingham Area.
The Opportunity
Our client has opened their applications for an exciting opportunity for an Engagement Officer to join one of their Supported Living Schemes in Birmingham. As an Engagement Officer, you will be responsible for working as part of a team delivering a needs led service for the welfare of the tenants. You will be assigned a caseload to work with 16-25 year olds, providing housing related support to tenants and enabling them to maintain their tenancies and achieve their aspirations for independent living. The position of the Engagement Officer will mean you will work closely with the young adults to assist them past their current difficulties; this could be helping them secure work, education or further training.
The Successful applicant will:
??Have knowledge of Safeguarding and current legislation.
??Have an understanding and experience of dealing with individuals with support needs.
??Have an up to date knowledge of housing issues and legislation, in particularly relating to homelessness issues - minimum 12 month experience working with individuals who are homeless or at risk of homelessness.
??Experience of working in a residential setting or in a supported housing environment.
??Be PC literate, familiar with Microsoft packages such as Word, Excel and Outlook or similar packages.
??Working knowledge of the issues faced by disadvantaged or vulnerable people.
