Senior Production Engineer

Seek to improve existing working practices in line with local KPI's and in particular high-level customer standards.This is a newly created Senior Engineering role. Role may suit an experienced Machine Shop Supervisor with improvement experience. You must be an experienced Production Engineer with a strong bacground in all aspects of a Machine Shop . You will facilitate the introduction of modern manufacturing practices and contribute towards decisions on engineering issues, processes, and methods of manufacture in a CNC Turn/Mill operation to ensure problem resolution both for the short and long-term. Machine shop experience with CNC programming of machines, circa GBP40-48,000++ dep on experience, Production Engineer CNC Machining is primary operation. Experience of machining Exotic metals in a highly certified environment would be a distinct advantage.
Reporting to the local senior management team and also assisting the remotely based Technical Director in creation, management and implementation of Machine Tool investment programme. Which will include joint meetings with our UK based subsidiaries.
Work closely with the Senior Management team to make decisions on engineering issues, processes, and methods of manufacture with a view to improve efficiency and reduce cost of manufacture. Knowledge of the 'Lean toolbox' Health and Safety, plus Quality Tools are a primary requirement in this role.
Audit engineering processes and conduct process and product audits to ensure compliance with applicable procedures, taking action to rectify areas of non-compliance and record/report activity. Attending and leading meetings as necessary for the delivery of organisational and personal objectives.
Assist in the creation of quotes estimating internal processing hours and producing routes of manufacture.
Ensure tooling ordering process is conducted in a standard way across the plant and drive purchasing efficiency in consumable tooling.
Work closely with the QHSE coordinator to ensure all processes adhere to both legislative and policies/procedures, to provide a safe workplace for our employees. Ensure adherence to the relevant quality standards.
Time served in a similar machining environment with 4+ years' experience in a senior technical /Engineering role. Ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications including an understanding of customer QP's and Material Specs. Experience of using CAD/CAM software a plus (edge cam)
Ability to plan jobs from engineering drawings to finished product including all tooling, gauging and fixture requirement.
Hands on experience of Machining processes, machine tool implementation and manufacturing techniques whilst working with a team of highly skilled Craftsmen.
Strong external and internal customer service mentality with a willingness to take responsibility and drive the team to achieve.
