Job Title: Hall Porter
Sector: Hotel
Location: TQ7
Contract Type: Permanent, Full Time.
Working Hours: Min 35hrs with regular overtime opportunities.
Working Patterns: Varied throughout the week, weekends.
Hourly Rate: GBP8.21
Responsible to: Head Hall Porter/Duty Manager
Job Purpose: To ensure that all guests are welcomed to the Hotel in a caring manner and looked after in all public areas. To ensure luggage is taken to and from the guests' bedrooms, ensuring security always and give guided tours of Hotel and its facilities to new arrivals.
Main duties and Responsibilities
To provide the finest service to exceed the guests' expectations and ensure that all guests are welcomed to the Hotel in a caring manner
To assist guests always and anticipate guests needs.
To serve early morning teas, room service, afternoon tea and evening coffee and provide garden service during the summer months.
To ensure the public areas on the ground floor, terraces and garden areas are kept clean and tidy.
To carry out cleaning duties and jobs as set out on the daily routine schedule.
To ensure Porters Lodge is kept clean, tidy and fully operational.
To ensure the meeting rooms are set up to the required standards for forthcoming functions.
Make sure all store areas are kept clean and tidy.
To be fully conversant with facilities and special promotions offered by the Hotel and pass onto guests to maximise hotel sales.
To be conversant with the guests comment/ complaints procedure and report to Head Porter or Duty Manager.
To ensure good liaison with colleagues and other departments.
To assist with training new members of staff in Porters Department.
To support the Head Porter to ensure SOP is being met and in his absence to ensure that all jobs are being fulfilled.
To assist other departments as required, eg housekeeping with moving beds etc.
Health & Safety
You must ensure that all Health & Safety regulations are always adhered to, this includes the fire procedures and COSHH regulations, all of which you will be made aware of. Please ensure that you report any faults or infringements of these procedures or act immediately where appropriate to correct them. You have a duty to carry out work so that you never put yourself or others at risk, creating a safer working environment for everyone
