BAM PPP is recruiting a Legal Manager to join the team in Glasgow.
About the roleLegal Managers are responsible for overseeing and managing all the legal aspects of PPP projects in procurement from Pre-qualification through to Financial Close. They operate within, apply, and contribute to the development of the Group Legal Strategy, which sets out the risk allocation, which BAM PPP on behalf of the Royal BAM Group intends to pursue on projects where it is investor in PPP Co, constructor, operator and management services provider.
He/she will work closely with the Bid team to ensure that each bid is properly supported at every stage of the procurement through the provision of legal advice, the delivery of all aspects of the legal submission and specifically working to ensure that the legal workstream is integrated with the commercial, financial and technical aspects of the bid.
The Legal Manager also works closely with the Finance Team to manage the commercial / legal negotiations with the Funders and their external advisers, both at bid stage and Preferred Bidder stage. Their role is to assist the Finance Team and Technical Teams in ensuring that the finance/ security documentation accurately reflects the BAM Finance Strategy/ commercial positions agreed with the Funder. The Legal Manager is principally responsible for ensuring that the external legal advisers are appropriately and cost efficiently deployed streamlining their involvement and targeting their inputs to minimize spend within agreed caps. The Legal Manager is responsible for providing advice to the Delivery Team ranging in scope from occasional advice on day-to-day routine matters to management of high value changes.
Who are we looking for? The ideal candidate will have at least 2 years PQE and have some experience working on PPP transactions, although this is not essential. Candidates with general experience of construction, banking or commercial work interested in retraining and gaining experience in PPP work in a large and dynamic organisation will be positively considered. Candidates should have a record of advising corporate / banking clients and proven commercial contracts expertise. They should be ambitious, enthusiastic and prepared to be dedicated to a career in PPP.
The role is based in Glasgow but candidates will be required to travel to meet the needs of BAM PPP's business.
