Job Title: Hotel Receptionist
Sector: Hospitality
Location: TQ7
Contract Type: Permanent, Part Time.
Working Hours: Varied.
Hourly Rate: GBP8.21

Responsible to: Front of House Manager
Job Purpose:
To be the first point of contact for guest reservations, working in an efficient manner to increase and maximise sales.
Main Duties and Responsibilities:
Be fully conversant with the Hotel Property Management System (PMS - Reslynx).
Be fully conversant with spa treatments and spa days and process reservations and confirmations accurately (Google Calendar).
Be fully conversant with Trevilder and Village Inn procedures and process reservations accurately (ResDiary).
Process reservations accurately and efficiently by email, telephone or mail.
Understand room status and room status tracking.
Know the type of rooms available as well as their location and layout.
Know the selling status, rates and benefits of all package plans.
Determine room rates based on the selling tactics of the hotel.
Prepare and forward an accurate confirmation of booking.
Process cancellations and modifications and promptly relay this to relevant departments.
Understand the hotel's policy on guaranteed reservations and no-shows.
Process deposits accurately on reservations.
Ensure that all guest requirements are accurately entered on the reservation for other departments.
Track provisional bookings and chase in a timely fashion.
Complete 1 week and 4 week checks and complete information such as children's names and ages, dinner reservations.
Use suggestive selling techniques to sell rooms and to promote other services of the hotel.
Use proper and professional telephone etiquette.
Maintain Reservation filing systems.
Communicate and liaise verbally and in writing between our customers, suppliers, visitors, enquirers and relevant staff, and interpret and respond clearly and effectively to spoken requests over the phone or in person, and to verbal or written instructions.
Perform reservation duties in an efficient, professional and courteous manner.
Handle daily correspondence and respond to email enquiries accurately and efficiently.
Record requests accurately in the Reception diary and communicate efficiently and in advance to other relevant departments.
Be aware of daily activities and functions taking place in the hotel.
Report any unusual occurrences or requests to the Front Office Manager or Duty Manager.
Know all safety and emergency procedures.
Be aware of accident prevention policies.
Understand that business demands sometimes make it necessary to move employees from their accustomed shifts to other shifts.
Other Duties

Maintain and update personal knowledge of the local area and amenities.
Establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, supervisors and the general public.
Pursue personal development of skills and knowledge necessary for the effective performance of the role.
