Thermal Design Engineer required. My client specialises in the design and development of innovative cooling systems, supplying customers across the world from their facility in South Wales. Due to the company's continued growth, they are currently looking to recruit a Thermal Design Engineer to join their R&D department and work on multiple projects, researching, analysing and designing new technologies for a range of innovative applications.
The successful engineer will have strong engineering background with a focus on mechanical design, heat transfer and fluid mechanics. This will be supported with an Engineering, Physics or Mathematics degree and a minimum of 3 years' experience working on new product development within a relevant industry. You will be proficient using FEM packages such as COMSOL (preferred) or ANSYS and SolidWorks for 2D & 3D thermal modelling. Strong interpersonal, communication and analytical skills are essential for this role.
R&D Engineer - Thermal Design & Analysis Position Overview
* Responsible for the thermal design and analysis of product components
* Validate technical concepts through Finite Element Modelling (FEM), defined plans and experimental tests, analysing and reviewing results
* Make recommendations for design decisions based on experimental results, numerical and physical modelling and the application of various engineering principles
* Produce detailed technical reports/presentations to support engineering analysis, design decisions and technical investigations
* Build technical rapport with team members and suppliers, attending site visits across the UK and abroad when necessary
R&D Engineer - Thermal Design & Analysis Position Requirements
* Degree level qualification - Engineering, Physics or Mathematics
* 3 years' experience in New Product Development (NPD)
* Mechanical design and development experience highly desirable
* Experience designing for manufacture from concept to mass production advantageous
* Refrigeration experience / knowledge preferred
* Ideally located in South Glamorgan (relocating candidates considered)

* GBP25,000 - GBP35,000 depending on experience
* 28 days' holiday including bank holidays
