A large UK utilities provider are seeking a Lead Business Development Manager.

You will be responsible for identifying opportunities, managing client and wider stakeholder relationships and leading bid and development teams to secure contracts and partnerships with public and private sector organisations across the UK. The role will involve bringing together areas of different expertise and working with internal stakeholders, experts and external partners to ensure the proposition is scoped and developed in line with our customers' needs and our strategy.

The role-

  • Monitoring the market to identify emerging technologies and solutions
  • Identify and scope new opportunities
  • Develop and manage a wide client base (specifically local authorities, universities, large companies) and other key stakeholders (such as consultants, policy makers and development managers) network
  • Bring client drivers and market intelligence to all propositions/bids in this sector
  • Working closely with colleagues across business verticals
  • Direct responsibility for ensuring propositions/bids successfully transition from initial bid to contract signature stage
  • Ensure that technical and commercial solutions best reflect the client's requirements
  • Ensure that technical and commercial solutions meet our financial performance requirements

  • Manage the client relationship throughout the proposition/bid and negotiation process ensuring that client's requirements and drivers are reflected in submissions.
  • Manage the outputs of supporting roles to provide high quality bids and approved negotiating positions
  • Drive a lessons learned culture across propositions/bids
  • Ensure clear briefing and buy-in from senior managers within Enterprise Distributed Energy and ongoing "sponsorship" at that level for projects under the individual's control
  • Work closely with the operations and delivery teams to ensure projects can be effectively procured, delivered and operated
  • Continue building relationship with client once contract won and continue to own client relationships
