St Mungo’s No Second Night Out (NSNO) provides a rapid response service, intervening to ensure no one needs to sleep rough. We have expanded our work in our assessment hubs and are looking for Night Assessment Workers to ensure as many rough sleepers as possible receive a rapid response, a full assessment of their needs and an offer of help to move away from rough sleeping.

The Role

The role of the Night Assessment Worker is to ensure a safe and supportive environment at night in the NSNO Assessment hubs, and to provide support to a team of Assessment & Reconnection Workers, carrying out high quality case work with rough sleepers. You will support them with key tasks, such as conducting detailed initial assessments and supporting the development of reconnection plans to end someone’s rough sleeping.

This role will suit those with experience of working at pace in a public facing environment. You will need some understanding of the issues faced by homeless or vulnerable people and the difficulties they experience in accessing services. If you have good communication skills, are able to work with others whilst managing your own time and have the ability to empower individuals to make positive changes and a willingness to develop these valuable skills we want to hear from you. This is a great opportunity for someone who wants to develop existing skills, or at the beginning of a career in the sector.

*In this vital role, it is essential that you are flexible to work on the weekly night shift rota to ensure services are accessible to those who are homeless, at the time they most need our support. Shifts include weekends, bank holidays and occasional day shifts for training and development purposes.

Additional Information

In return, we offer a range of benefits including a pension scheme, staff discounts scheme and initiatives to help you maintain a healthy work/life balance. We are also committed to providing our staff with a wide range of learning and development opportunities, in support of their personal and professional development.

On 4th & 5th April we will be holding 2 open evenings from 5 pm - 8 pm, providing the opportunity for you to find out more about St Mungo’s, NSNO and our available roles. Please check out our NSNO vacancies on the St Mungo’s careers page where you can find contact details to register your interest in our open evenings.
