Main purpose of post
To support the work of the Education Department in developing a distinctively Christian education that promotes the diocesan strategic vision for education, providing a professional and efficient services to support this function.
Principal duties
- To act as the first point of contact for the Education Department in the Diocesan Office
- To support the Diocesan Director of Education and Schools Officer in their roles
- To provide office-based support for the work of the Education Department
- To collect and up-date a range of data about individual schools
- To coordinate and maintain accurate records of the appointment of foundation governors
- To assist the Diocesan Accountant in the administration of repair grants to schools
- To maintain a list of admissions appeal clerks and panel members
- To undertake clerical support for the Education Executive including attending meetings and preparing draft minutes
Skills required
Essential
- Competence in the use of Word , Excel and Outlook
- Secretarial/ minute taking skills
- Experience of, or the willingness to be trained in the use of, databases and dashboards
- Excellent communication skills
- Good telephone manner and welcoming personality with a suitable measure of pastoral awareness, tact and diplomacy
- Organisational skills
- Ability to work carefully and accurately in relation to legislation and guidance
- A good team member
Desirable
- An understanding of schools and a sensitivity to the complex issues that arise in them
- An interest in Christian education
- An understanding of the school curriculum
- Empathy with the Christian ethos of the Church in Wales
- Current driving licence
