A graduate in Business Studies, Economics, Finance or similar you have an excellent working knowledge of institutional donor rules, regulations, financial control procedures and risk management. This global Grants and Compliance Advisor role with ActionAid international is the opportunity you are looking for.

At ActionAid International we help people to use their own power to fight poverty and injustice. Because that's how real change happens - for women, for communities, for whole societies. We want you to provide support and advice to ActionAid members in effective grants compliance and risk management of institutional donor contracts. This will be primarily for the NORAD grant portfolio, Malawi Global Fund project and Zambia Sida project.

We will look to you to maintain oversight of key high risk grants across the Federation with accurate and updated information and support colleagues with grant management tools and compliance systems and processes. You will also give technical advice and training to members to build their capacity to maintain adherence to grant specific rules, regulations and procurement standards. Important will be the ability to monitor grant management performance as well as quality checking donor reports and flagging any risks for appropriate management action. You will develop standard operating procedures, internal controls and set up systems to monitor key accountabilities in order to strengthen grant and financial management too. Working within the institutional funding team (IFT) you will also provide technical input to key IFT projects such as cost recovery.

You must have a relevant diploma or degree complemented by excellent knowledge of institutional donor rules (EU/DFID/ECHO/USAID), regulations, financial control procedures and risk management. You will be comfortable providing clear guidance on donor procedures, reports and audits to other staff and will have been involved in setting up and managing donor compliance monitoring systems. Strong communication, negotiation and organisational skills are also essential in this role. Knowledge of Sida, NORAD and Global Fund grant contract rules and regulations would be an advantage.
