We are recruiting for an experienced Purchasing Manager for a highly respected, world-class manufacturer located in the Chesterfield area who recognise that people are the key to their continued growth and are looking to expand their team by recruiting a Purchasing Manager to manage, lead, and develop the team.

As Purchasing Manager, you will be required to manage the day to day activities of the procurement team, including the development of appropriate metric and controls to drive operational performance. Your role will also involve effective management of budgets and planning procurement strategies.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• To assist with the management of approved vendor list, selection and ongoing performance management of existing vendors.
• To manage buyers in accordance with the MRP system, auto order, purchase requisitions and ensuring buyers adhere to the purchasing criteria
• To ensure Housekeeping of the purchase system information
• Production of monthly reports for submission to the Head of Supply Chain
• Preparation of data for delivery, by presentation, to the customer in line with the Purchasing Department's Activities document, No. (phone number removed)
• Ensure compliance to AS9100 across the purchasing team
• Consider financial implications of inventory due to batch sizes and MOQ's during bid process
• Purchase invoice resolution and query escalation as appropriate, whilst working with and support of the Finance team
• Lead and develop the team, including holiday management (cover), supervision, training and general support to include personal development places
• Continually work to achieve cost saving targets as defined by Head of Supply Chain
• Manage price increases into the business, continually striving to minimise any negative impact on business
• Storage of formal purchasing documentation in accordance with company standard to ensure compliance
• Accountable for the escalation process for the purchasing team in accordance with the procedure as defined by the Head of Supply Chain
• Analyse and collate consumption data

The Skills and Experience we are looking for:

Excellent communication skills, communicating clearly and appropriately via written and verbal channels, both with internal and external stakeholders
Ability to cope in a highly dynamic working environment where changes in customer requirements are considered normal
Be self-motivated and have strong planning, analytical and organisational skills
To be target conscious and able to manage conflicting deadlines
Ideally will have experience and understand the manufacturing culture
To be able to demonstrate high levels of initiative and flexibility
Confidence and ability to build rapport and develop strong and lasting business relationships adeptly
Ability to produce engaging and compelling presentations including data analysis and statistics
Excellent negotiation skills
Strict attention to detail
Advanced level IT skills, in particular Microsoft Office and MRP/ERP systems experience
Proven sourcing experiences with distribution and franchise/ non-franchise
Counterfeit mitigation experience
An unrivalled desire to learn and develop personally and professionally through a variety of channels; self-learning, mentoring, training interventions
